Another clever word sets off an unsuspecting herd and as you step back into line, Ayumi was leaning lazily against the wall of a building, one that stood on the opposite side of the road to the park. The park was a wide expanse of grass, from what she saw through the fog that day. She identified many benches and trees that filled the area, leaving thin pathways and small individual fields within the empty spots. People would wander around among the park and younger kids would play on the playgrounds that provided playstructures for them to occupy.
But with the war tearing the economy apart, the excitement of the town was falling with it. The amount of people who came here with the same contentness as before had decreased largely, and the happy feel to the air here was no longer as strong. The stress and desperation brought by not only the homeless visitors, but by all visitors in general, had affected the overall attraction. However, Ayumi still came to the place nearly every day.
Part of her daily routine would be to stop here, after purchasing her coffee from the shop that was a block from her house. Here, she would finish only half of her beverage, then begin wandering aimlessly through the town in search of something to do. Ayumi hardly ever just stayed at home. Home was with her grandmother who did nothing other than sulk in the corner, grieving the loss of her spouse, and sew random things. The only good thing Ayumi's grandmother had to offer now was the decent amount of money that had been supplied by her now dead husband's recent, successful career. That money was what kept her sane.
Ayumi supposed she was fortunate to have been left in a home with a great amount of money, for others hardly had any, and some hardly had a home at all. There were others, however, who had the thing she had lost; a family. When she found out about her parents' and sister's deaths, she was sure her world had started to fall apart. Chin up...
Yet, she found herself standing here, a cup of warm coffee held between either of her palms to provide heat to both hands. This day had been a chilly day, and you could only see a few yards ahead due to the fog, and the air was quite humid. She wore her usual headband with the green bow on the left side, but even though she wore boots on either feet and a scarf wrapped pretty loosely around her neck, she was still rather cold - shivering a little, in fact. But maybe it would've been smarter to wear a shirt with longer sleeves as well. "Damnit..." she muttered, and she could see her own breath.
Ayumi lifted the cup of coffee to her bottom lip and tilted the bottom upward until she could feel the contents rushing through her slightly open mouth. Of all things, coffee had to be her favorite thing in the world. Without it, she could honestly say she would've been somewhere far elsewhere, doing something far less productive than what she had been doing. Well, it hadn't seemed like she'd beem doing much at the moment, but most of her purpose for being there had been to search for ideal members for the gang she had planned on forming. Mainly for those who had nowhere to go, nothing to live for, but nothing to end their life for either. She offered protection and salvation, all under the motivation of coffee.
Aside from this, she was also just there to escape a depressing household. From time to time, her grandmother's discontent aura threatened to alter Ayumi's own normally cheerful attitude. So she spent most of her time outdoors, in hopes to remain enthusiastic, so she wouldn't end up losing all reason to fight through this city-wide conflict. But despite such an unpleasant story, Ayumi actually is more confident than one would think. Even though most of her family is dead, she's still content. Even though she lives with such a homelife, she's still happy. Even though she's had a bad experience with trusting others, she is absolutely trustworthy. And more than anything, she's determined, stubborn. Ayumi can truly hold her own.
As she lowered the cup from her mouth, her green eyes followed to stare at the coffee cup in her hands. She could still feel the heat on the sides of the cup, and she could still smell the familiar scent rising from it. Ahead of her, her peripheral vision could only sense the movement of a few individuals among the park, but none of them were interesting at the moment. So right now, it had been peaceful.. and she wondered how much longer it'd stay like that. Ayumi silently hoped it would at least get exciting sometime soon, but you could never tell.

____________________________________________________________________________________ LATE I'VE BEEN WALKING IN CIRCLES watching waiting for something |
____________________________________________________________________________________ Today was the day some of the personnel were moved to the city. Most of them saw it as a day off since the war has yet to appear in the city. It made things a lot easier to just relax when one is not tense from a possibility of being attacked. Also they could sneak away in a large city easier and even see some of their friends and family again. In a way, being assigned to the city was a vacation for the soldiers some even out to buy souvenirs to bring back to the base.
For Seijun though things were always different. He never saw it the same way as others being far too cold and logical. Then again it might be due to the fact that unlike them he had no one waiting for his return, no one to welcome him back and hug him. He had no family to come back to, or at least one that he would be willing of. His mother dying the day the loan sharks came and his father? Well from what he can gather, his father was a slave working off a debt so at least he was suffering. The man that was a failure that brought not only himself but his family down as well. Just what did his mother saw in that man? The one time he saw his father he had felt disgusted to know that he had gotten some of the blood of such a lowly man. He supposed this is what they call love, such an irrational thing especially during times of war. It clouds one's mind far too much making them wanting to live instead of wining the war. That was all that mattered to him, the mission and nothing else. A reason why he hated some of the soldiers with lovers to come back to. They don't care about wining, they simply want to live and that will cause them to fear battles and that would handicap the government. He can only hope those soldiers would be the first to die, get rid of the weaknesses before it can be fully taken advantage of. Well at least they can be canon fodder he supposed, but that is only if he somehow get them to be able to stand still and not run away in fear. It was a good thing that training the men wasn't exactly his job but rather Colonel Hudson's.
The male shook his head dispelling such thoughts. Right now he needed to focus on the mission. Yes, he was given an actual mission to come to the city unlike the rest which was something rather vague 'protect the city'. When he had read it with a small glance passing by a soldier he had almost scoffed. His on the other hand was a list of gangsters that were not pro-humans. The government didn't care about anything else. Pro-human gangs were allowed due to the fact that they harm hybrids which were the enemy. Pro-hybrids on the other hand caused a lot of problems to the humans and some of the soldiers as well. The people in the city were complaining about it and some of the other espionage has gathered the information but has yet to kill them. No, that was Seijun's job. He stared down at the list that he had scanned through yesterday on the air plane. It was a small list only having the names of small gangs. The big ones were going to be held publicly for causing troubles and the ones that were radical pro-hybrids. His job was to take care of the neutral ones.
When he had arrived at the park he stared at the many people with families playing. Kids laughing and chasing each other. He spotted some hybrids watching the kids play while others were being bullied by the kids. The parents though did nothing about it because they were powerless. The lieutenant didn't have any satisfaction on his face like some of the human parents nor pity like the hybrid parents. Instead it had portrayed nothing as he slowly looked back onto the list. There was one thing that concerned him. The gang, The East-siders, or rather their leader. On the list of the leaders he was to assassinate it had her name, Ayumi Miyamoto. At first he had thought he read it wrong but quickly realized that no, it truly was her name. What was she doing on the neutral side? He had heard rumors that she caused trouble but he didn't give it much thoughts since a lot of people cause trouble in the city it was a normality. For her to be neutral helping both humans and hybrids. That was a problem, the fact that she was helping the enemy as well. Why? What was she thinking?
Soon he spotted her which wasn't hard, she stood out in the crowd or maybe it was just him. Normally the male would watch her from afar and help her out when needed but only behind the scene such as calling the police whenever something happens to her or at times giving her presents on her birthday but he would put it in his room. With years of training it wasn't hard to sneak in. Ever since Hudson picked him up, he never talked to her up close again, at least that was until today. Today he was going to have to talk to her but of course under a different name. He walked up in front of her noting that she had grown a bit taller the past few months. "Are you Miyamoto-san?" he asked.

Another clever word sets off an unsuspecting herd and as you step back into line, "Are you Miyamoto-san?"
Ayumi had brought her eyes up moments before the approaching male had spoken, and the first thing she noticed was how familiar he seemed at first. I swear I've seen that face before.. with that voice. She felt that, even when it seemed anyone worth remembering had forever left her, the man standing before her was someone with forgotten importance to her. But if he was so important, why would he approach her so casually? Unless he hadn't recognized her... Well, anyone worth remembering would remember me. So she tried to shake it off, but she couldn't help but still see something familiar about his face,.. just his face...
Ayumi blinked, finally ridding the thought from her mind and focusing on what he had asked. "Are you Miyamoto-san? It echoed... Did this supposed stranger actually recognize her, as something more than just a stranger? Her eyebrow twitched, but then she slightly shook her head. She shouldn't get so interested in such a thing. What mattered most to either of them right now was for her to answer the damn question. "H-Hai," she replied, a bit of a distracted look in her eyes.
Now, all Ayumi wondered was why he asked her for her name. It could very well be that he did want confirmation that she was an old associate of his, but instead what caught her eye was the paper in his hand. Curiosity struck her and she narrowed her eyes a bit, eyeing the paper. If she'd seen correctly out of the corner of her eye before, she'd noticed this man had been referring to the paper before he headed towards her. He couldn't have come to her wanting to talk casually. "What is it you want?" she asked suspiciously.
Ayumi was always on alert when she left the house, and depending on who she confronted or who confronted her, she was either somewhat relaxed and happy, or mature and serious. Or both, if that makes sense. She also always had her handgun at reach; like today, she held it in the holster attached to the hip of her jeans, half-hidden beneath the bottom of her shirt. Though, other days she'd go out just holding it at hand everywhere she went. There were always people around town who would try and take advantage of you - especially a younger-looking girl. When this certain girl had a gun, it was different. Sure, she would still look like she wasn't completely sure of how to use it, but with this gun, she'd be able to show them that she was.
Running her eyes over the male once more, a hand reluctantly removed itself from the warm coffee cup to gently rest on the holster at her hip. "Am I needed for something?"
Ayumi asked, with her Japanese accent clear in her words. She tilted her head a bit, and some of her purple hair fell from over her scarf. "Surely strangers don't make trips just for conversation?" Now it was made clear how suspicious she had been, for there was that serious tone in her voice. She straightened up and blinked up at him expectantly. Then she brought up the same hand to point a finger at the paper. "Nani sore? Ayumi sure asked a lot of questions, which could be considered unfair. At times she was impatient, but in truth she was a bit anxious right now. If this man had been as familiar as she had thought, that meant a former associate or friend of hers had something to be suspicious about. She'd hoped he was nothing but a stranger, so she could just stop worrying. At the same time, she didn't want another stranger in her life.. full of people who wouldn't bother to spare her the acknowledgement. That was probably why she wanted to form a gang.. for the company. She probably needed it more than she would admit. Then again, there was that one annonymous person, who would deliver gifts on holidays and help her in general, from an unseen distance, from time to time. He or she was someone whose acts always seemed to interest her a bit. Not really in a grateful way.. It looked at it as if she had a stalker, so she hadn't really taken a liking to it. It had really made her feel dependant, as if she was the younger girl who was proven to rely on said person's assistance. She wanted to be a gang leader, and one who didn't need help too often. And certainly one who didn't have a creepy stalker. a mob jumps to their feet. TAGS: Seijun WORDS: 769 NOTES: Yay for drama. *w* Bad spot to end the post, but you know.. ____________________________________________________________________________________ LATE I'VE BEEN WALKING IN CIRCLES watching waiting for something |
____________________________________________________________________________________ At first the girl stared at Seijun with a small faint recognition. He didn't falter though and merely stared back. He was trained to never falter to anything, faltering weakens you and causes far too many mistakes. Soon though she regained her composure and opened her mouth. "Am I needed for something?"
Good, so she didn't recognized him. Silently he had thanked time. "Surely strangers don't make trips just for conversation?" She asked. It was rather true especially for someone such as the male. He was usually out of his way to avoid people. He only made trips it it was a necessity. In other words, when the jobs make him. The only person he could think that he talked to nonchalantly was in the military and even then they didn't exactly talk to each other like most. "Somewhat. I heard that you lead the East-siders." he spoke making sure to keep his voice low as he sat right next to her the movement nonchalant as if they knew each other before this. Well actually they did but she didn't know that. It seems that the paper had caught her attention but he didn't care that much about it. "Nani sore? She asked him pointing at the paper. He gave it to her as it was a simple list of neutral groups and that was it. They never give him information about the person, he would always have to ask for it. This time though he decided not to and look them up himself, he was never much of a person that trusts others. . "It's a list of neutral gang members. You see I want to help our the hybrids but...well I don't exactly want to hurt humans either." He stated using a cover story that he had made up. He was always one to plan things. That was when he had given the paper to show that he was simply someone who wanted to help out both sides even if it was far from the truth. Lying was easy to the point where it was natural for the silver haired male. Telling the truth though was another story. He again watched the many people that passed by them. Hmm...he used to go to this park a lot as a child before his father put them in a bind. Seeing some of the children holding their parents hand made him felt a bit...envious. Quickly though he dispelled the thoughts. "Miyamoto-san. I was wondering if ti would be alright if I was to align myself with you." he spoke making sure to act humble but again that wasn't hard. Although it should be since he looks down on many but Ayumi was one of the minority he did not look down to. He owed her far too much for that. Still the fact that she had helped him will not stop him from completing his mission. She was gong to die and it will be from his hand. He knew that he could request for another person to do it and make up an excuse. The government would most likely take it as nothing and give someone else a mission. After all he wasn't the only assassin, there were others but he didn't know who they were. Assassins are never allowed to know each other just in case one day they are sent out to kill each other./color] he asked.[/blockquote][/blockquote] ____________________________________________________________________________________ FEEL ME, TOUCH ME, HEAL ME come take me higher ____________________________________________________________________________________ tag;; ayumi words;; 574 outfit;; here notes;; fail post
